As stated in my bio, I have worked with my parents in their wholesale nursery business for over eight years. However, I spent my entire childhood growing up in the nursery industry, and I understand certain things about it. What I understand best is that for the most part, nurserymen (and women) are hard-working, honest people who enjoy making a living off the land. Some of my earliest memories are watching my dad dig trees on cold January days and learning to drive (at age seven) making laps around a barn on a Kubota tractor in first gear. I learned how to bud a dogwood tree with a pocketknife before I was ten and thought tagging tape was a fashion statement on my banana-seat bicycle. However, in my lifetime, the nursery industry has changed. While Warren County, Tennessee could be considered the heart of the US nursery industry, the business ideals held by Warren County nurserymen are hardly the national standard any longer.
